Natural cold-process shampoo bars are true soap bars made by blending:
plant oils
butters
lye (which disappears during the soap-making process)
natural additives

These bars are considered natural because the cleansing comes from the natural soap molecules created when oils and lye react — not from synthetic detergents.

Syndet bars often contain ingredients like:
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI)

Behentrimonium Methosulfate (BTMS)
These are laboratory-derived surfactants, not natural soap.

Natural cold-process bars contain ingredients like:
olive oil
Coconut oil
Shea butter
Castor oil
Essential oils
Water
Sodium hydroxide (used for saponification but not present in final bar)

Syndet Shampoo Bar
Made from synthetic detergents
Very mild and pH-balanced
Not considered a natural soap
More like solid bottled shampoo

Cold-Processed Natural Shampoo Bar are made from natural oils and butters and are created through traditional soap-making not synthetic surfactants

A syndet bar is basically shampoo without the water.
A natural cold-process bar is soap made from plant oils and natural butters.
They look similar, but the way they’re made and the ingredients are completely different.”
